Youth

Here at SLY we aim to have fun!

This is a place where we eat heaps of yum food and make awesome friends. We play mindless games and laugh until it hurts. We stay up late at camps and sleepovers watching videos and playing cards. WebsitePhotos_007.jpg

We think outside the square and explore spirituality. We find out a whole heap about ourselves and those around us. We have even been known to go on overseas trips. However, there are some values which are essential to how we do things at SLY…

The Community of St Luke is a nurturing, challenging community where all who come are accepted and respected. These are also central values of our youth group (SLY).

We aim to provide a non-threatening environment in which young people are free and safe to explore questions of life, spirituality, Confirmation_031.jpgChristianity, justice and other issues. It is not our goal to convert all those who come to a narrow theology but rather to challenge and equip our youth to explore and develop a theology or otherwise with which they are comfortable while fostering values of community, inclusiveness and living for more than just ourselves.

St Lukes Youth is therefore not a place where you have to turn your brain off at the door, but somewhere where everybody's journey and questions are respected

We run youth programmes for those in Year 6 up to young adults. Our regular ones are as follows:

Years 6-8 “Zippy” – Wednesday Nights 7.00-9.00pm
Years 9&10 “Intrepid” – Wednesday Nights 7.00-9.00pm
Years 11-13 “The Young and The Restless” – Thursday Nights 7.00-9.30pm

SLIKs - St Lukes Sunday School

WebsitePhotos_120.jpgSt Lukes Incredible Kids is Sunday school with a bit of a difference!

We're into building relationships, learning about Christianity and most importantly having fun.

On Sundays you might catch us playing gigantic board games, making burning bushes out of broccoli, or doing a touch of detective work.

We all stay in one group, so the bigger ones can help out the littlies, and we're lead by Kim (the children's worker), and some awesome young leaders from SLY.

We start at 9.30am on Sundays during term time, beginning in church and migrating out after children's time (apart from communion Sundays where we go backwards, starting out and coming in for the end).

We're for kids from year 1 to 5, and we love new faces!

St Lukes Creche

WebsitePhotos_082.jpgWELCOME TO ST LUKE'S SUNDAY CRECHE!

There are crèche facilities provided during the Sunday morning Community Worship services at St Lukes. If you would like to use these, please make yourself known to a member of the hospitality team in the foyer before the service.

We are open from 9.15 until 10.45 and are situated in St Luke's Kindergarten (to the rear of the church building).

The crèche is open when required. There is a comfortable couch for breast/bottle feeding as well as a kitchen and nappy-changing facilities.

We do request that you bring a drink/snack for your child.

All are welcome – see you soon!
