Our Church

The Community of St Luke is a forward-looking community dedicated to spirituality, social justice, and openness. Our gatherings on Sundays take place in a historic Presbyterian church, featuring an enriching blend of music, contemporary hymns, poetry, and introspection. Our diverse expressions of the divine embrace various perspectives and avoid gender bias. We extend a warm invitation to all, regardless of faith or orientation, to share our space for ceremonies and occasions.

The 9.30am Sunday Service

Not infrequent responses from first time visitors to St Luke's, includes observations such as, “This is a place where my questioning and spiritual journey  are respected.”

This service offers the space, in the company of others, to reflect, participate, and commit to helping make our world a loving, more just, place. It’s evocative rather than prescriptive.

St Lukes can be a place where people who have walked away from church in the past, can reconnect, and a place for those who are wondering whether Christianity is for them. While largely Presbyterian in ethos, people from a wide variety of backgrounds and traditions find their needs met here. The sermons are recorded on our You Tube channel here, and are available in a printed format here.

This service offers a unique blend of high-quality organ music and hymns, with the latter reflecting both a New Zealand and inclusive language bias. There is a printed order of service with prayers from a variety of sources, including Celtic. There is often meditative music.

Midweek Communion

Each week a small group of people meet to share thoughts, pray for others, and break bread together. It is relaxed, communal, and caring.

Activities Room - Wednesdays, 12.30 pm –1.30 pm from February to December.

Centering Prayer

In the meditative Christian tradition, this is a still, silent, simple hour of profound meditation held in the church or centre. All are welcome: those of any faith or spiritual tradition, or none.

First Friday of each month. $5.00. Time: 10.30am to 11.30am.

Music & Choirs

Our vision for music at the Community of St Luke is to inspire and nurture the Auckland community, to draw in others and to make the church a well-used and vibrant concert venue for a wide range of music. St Luke’s offers choirs and other music groups the opportunity to make the venue their musical home for the year or for just one concert. Below are some of the choirs and music groups that perform at St Luke’s.
