JESUS: A REVOLUTIONARY BIOGRAPHY

Tuesday, 18 February 2020 - 7:30pm

Rev Glynn Cardy leads a reading group on John Dominic Crossan’s book: Jesus: A Revolutionary Biography.

John Dominic Crossan, Irish-born American theologian and former Roman Catholic priest, is best known for his association with the Jesus Seminar, an organization of revisionist biblical scholars, and his controversial writings on the historical Jesus and the origins of Christianity.

His work portrays the Second Coming as a late corruption of Jesus' message and says that Jesus' divinity is metaphorical. He describes Jesus' ministry as founded on free healing and communal meals, negating the social hierarchies of Jewish culture and the Roman Empire.
