The Breath of God - a sermon by Rev Glynn Cardy, 9 June 2024
There is a saying from Meister Eckhart that God is closer than our breathing. Or another way to think about this is that our breath, our lifeforce (mauri), is part of God's lifeforce.
The reflection in this sermon is in two parts - the first a comment on 1 Samuel 8, an important text when considering God, religion, and politics. The second part of the reflection is about liturgy ('the work of the people in prayer'), and how politics, justice, change, prayer, and the breath of God all mingle together.
